Carson is Starting Preschool!

Carson is starting preschool this year at Faith Lutheran Preschool in Grand Blanc.  On Thursday, we went in for orientation.  Sara had gone to meet Carson's teachers last week and learn about the upcoming year.  But Thursday was the big day for Carson.  Mama and Daddy got to join Carson in the classroom this time.  Carson met his teacher, Mrs. Hans, and her helpers, Mrs. Clor and Mrs. Dahms.  They are all so nice and loving.  Carson isn't sure what he thinks of them yet, but I'm sure he'll grow to love them.

We got to do a scavenger hunt around the classroom to familiarize ourselves with all the fun opportunities - the reading center, math center, building center, discovery center, household center, science center, (another center or two that I think I am missing), the Altar area where they will have Jesus Time every day, and of course their cubbies and classroom bathroom.  Carson earned a sticker at each clue and his reward at the end was an Oreo cookie and a glass of milk or water.  Carson seemed to really enjoy his time in the classroom, exploring all the different areas.  He also got to meet some of his classmates.  There are 19 kids in his class.

Carson is very excited for his first official day of preschool on Tuesday next week.  He is being very brave about the idea of going to class on his own.  His teachers prepared a book for the kids with pictures from around the classroom, explaining the schedule for each day at school that has really been a comfort for Carson to know what to expect.  A typical day will look like this... drop-off and putting things (coat, backpack, etc.) in your cubby, finding your name card (they really emphasize reading your own name, written properly), free choice/center time, Jesus time, gym time, story or show and tell time, art/craft/science/math/learning time, singing a goodbye song, and then hugs goodbye as the kids get picked up.  It's a very loving, positive, Christian environment, which will be so great for our little guy.  Carson says he is looking forward to cooking in the pretend kitchen, playdough, gym time, Jesus time, show and tell, and using the potty and sink that are just his size.  :)

We hope Tuesday goes smoothly when Kevin drops Carson off.  Sara has to miss it, as she'll be in New York on a business trip.  Keep your fingers crossed for a smooth transition (and no tears)!  And we look forward to seeing how much Carson will learn this year!
